Veterans United Foundation presented the 2012 Joggin' for Frogmen event this weekend in San Diego, CA. With over 1,000 participants, including SEAL Team 5 and SEAL Team 7, the Joggin' for Frogmen mission brought men, women, and children together to run in honor of all our Warriors who have sacrificed their lives for us while protecting our nation. This run was held one week before the first anniversary of the August 6, 2011 Chinook helicopter crash that took the lives of 31 of our American Warriors. We ran in honor of those heroes.
The Navy SEAL Foundation and Special Operations Warrior Foundation were the two military beneficiaries of Joggin' for Frogmen and a big reason why VUF got behind this cause, with all proceeds from the event going directly to support their missions. Total amount raised will be announced shortly.
Ultra Marathon athlete, Mike Rouse ran 24 HOURS before kicking off the big event! He ran in honor of his close friend, J.T. Tumilson who was killed in the crash almost one year ago. Mike wore a shirt for each of the 31 fallen, as he ran a loop dedicated to each man (and one K-9 Service Dog). He succeeded in his mission, and we cannot be more proud to call Mike a friend. VU is excited to share the full story of Mike's journey soon.
Veterans United Foundation was honored and privileged to get behind this incredible fundraiser. We left San Diego feeling so proud of what our company stands for, and gratified to enhance the lives of surviving military families.
